Purpose for Community Groups
( 1 item )
There are a few components that make our Community Groups unique (and I believe these components will help our Community Groups to be effective).
1) Our Community Groups are sermon based. What I mean by this is that each week our study within our Community Groups will be based upon the same passage that we heard the message from at AVBC on Sunday morning.
2) Our Community Groups have teaching from a video. Here at AVBC we have put together a DVD that will have a “sermonette” that will be shown before the discussion time in your Community Group. On the video there will be a 10 to 12 minutes talk that will deal with the passage for the week and give plenty of background and practical application.
3) Our Community Groups supplies materials. In the program on Sunday morning we will have a question/discussion sheet so that you will know ahead of time what you will be discussing that week. We believe that by having the sheets ahead of time, people on a continual basis will be more likely to get involved. The question/discussion sheet is also available for download on our church website.
4) Our Community Groups are flexible. It is our desire that we would eventually have Community Groups happening on every day of the week. We want you to be able to join a Community Group on a night that best fits your schedule. We know that people within our congregation are busy, so by offering Community Groups on different days and times will give people a better chance of finding a group that is good for them.
